Can You Trust Your Auto Body Repair Shop?
Finding the right automotive body shop when you’ve been in an accident can be a difficult responsibility. Most likely, you are stressed out and even possibly injured, so you just want to get the repairs over with. You may also have your insurance company pressuring you into going with a particular collision auto center. But you have the right to choose your own body repair shop, and you want to choose one that you can trust.
Start your assessment of a body repair shop when you are approaching your building. Is it well-kept, with other cars and customers there? Do you generally get a good vibe from it, or do they not seem trustworthy? It’s important to trust your gut, so if you don’t feel right about the place, keep on driving.
Automotive collision repair can be expensive, but you shouldn’t necessary go with the lowest repair estimate you get. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. It’s likely the body repair shop is not including necessary repairs in the estimate, so that they can surprise you with them later. You also want to make sure that the shop hasn’t included unnecessary repairs or parts in the estimate. Have the mechanic walk you through the estimate and the repair bill, explaining what’s been done.
Not all body repair shops are out to get you, but there are some out there that try to make their money in some pretty unethical ways. Be smart and make sure you check on everything, and don’t just take the mechanic’s word for it. Find more on this here.
