It’s time for you to buy a new car. Your current one is either starting to show its age or your growing family is in dire need of a few more options to get through the week. Should you just go with what you know? Industry statistics are suggesting otherwise. The act of buying a car changes and grows every year, with new models constantly being pushed to the forefront to turn what should be a basic task into a huge journey. Your car doesn’t have to be a basic model that ‘gets the job done’. It should practically be a new member of the family!

How Many Americans Own A Car?

Americans love their cars. They’re so deeply ingrained in our culture to the point of coloring first impressions of us overseas! Over 80% of Americans reported owning a car back in 2014. Even in our increasingly eco-friendly world, the appeal of having your very own vehicle is hard to resist. The average family owns two vehicles, though an impressive 35% of households own three or more. Whatever your own family looks like, it doesn’t hurt to brush up on your car buying know-how so you can get the very best out of your local auto dealer’s GMC trucks.

What’s The Car Dealer Industry Looking Like?

Before we look into car buying tips and GMC trucks let’s take a look at some industry statistics. General Motors saw their global sales totaling nine million vehicles in 2015, a rather impressive number when you consider the varying perspectives on car-owning habits in different countries. Memorial Day weekend back in 2016 saw over 34 million Americans taking road trips across the country (thanks to a AAA study) and green vehicles are on the rise as a great way of getting the best of both worlds. What should your purchase look like?

What’s A Good Car For Taking Regular Road Trips?

The best way to make sure you get a car that suits you is to make a checklist of all of your expectations. Families often want a vehicle that can stand up to just about anything they need, whether it’s a trip across country or just a trip to the local grocery outlet. Statistics have found 10% of families more likely to take road trips in 2017 compared to the year prior. Overall? An estimated 35% of Americans are planning on taking a vacation 50 miles away from home at the very least. GMC trucks are a reliable resource to turn to when you have multiple expectations.

Are There Dog Friendly Car Models?

Not sure if your car dealer can provide the goods when it comes to keeping your pets comfortable? Think again. GMC trucks not only have family friendly vehicles, but dog friendly cars specifically designed to make transporting your pooch a breeze. A CarGurus survey conducted back in 2016 found parents are more likely to choose a vehicle based on its ability to meet the entire family’s needs. Transporting kids sports equipment was the highest at 45%, but transporting pets followed close behind at 30%. The Buick Enclave was considered one of 2014’s top must-own family cars.

Should My Children Be Involved In This Decision?

Buying a car doesn’t have to be hard…or a journey you take alone. In fact, more parents than ever are involving their children in the car buying process. Another CarGurus survey saw 45% of respondents (all parents) saying they were most likely to have a conversation with their children about school while driving. A study provided by The Family Room went out of its way to study this unique phenomenon and found some encouraging results. Three out of five parents (that’s over 55%) said they actively involved their children in car purchasing decisions, such as asking them what they wanted or letting them participate in a test drive.

Your local GMC dealership will have more than enough models to keep you and your family guessing on your way to a shiny new car.
